I’ll be too busy reading my book….
At least you won’t be applying makeup.
I hope it’s one of Claire’s books.
Ha! thanks! I hadn’t even thought of that. I can’t imagine pulling up next to someone in traffic, looking over and seeing someone reading one of my books!
If I pull up next to you then my ruddy care will have done some VERY strange uncommanded manouveres and managed about 100 miles a litre. (440 mpg for the Nordamerican’s on board)
But Dave – that would be awesome to look over and see you. Your car may end up a little water logged too.
So your singing is a good thing, right? Last time someone looked over at me when I was singing thought I was abusing them! Road rage can be sooooo ugly and so too singing!
I’ve seen other people sing when they’re driving and it always makes me laugh so I hope it’s a good thing.
Well, I’d much rather see you sing than to look over at the usual guy who’s always picking his nose and analyzing the results. :)
Ha! Yeah I’d much rather be singing than digging.
I’ll be blogging. :-)
I’ll make sure to drive well ahead of or behind you so I’m not in the line of fire.
But will you be singing LOUDLY with the Windows rolled down or just under your breathe with the windows up?
I sing loudly with the windows rolled up and the music louder than I can sing. If my family is in the car, you will see all of us moving to the music and singing along.
Can you have a friend drive by and record it on video and slap it on YouTube. An entire bebopping family would be priceless.
That’s true. I’ll try to remember that the next time we take a nice long ride.
Like the Partridge family?
*snort* yeah but that’s only if we’re in a van and Vicki’s along for the ride. If Suzette’s along, then it’s more like sister sledge.
yay! partridge family….i think i love you! i’ll be singing too!
I actually like that song too LOL
If you guys need a new friend to abuse, I mean amuse… You should meet my little sister: http://suzettevaughn.wordpress.com/2009/09/16/to-blog-or-not-to-blog/
Been and done; waiting for flack back.
Do you really need flackback? I can give you all the flack you need.
so that was you!
It WAS me! That was you??? I knew it!
What would you do if you looked over and saw me? That is an incredible photo; where in the hell did you find it?
If I look over and see you, I’m going to abandon my car and get in yours.
Isn’t it incredible? I love it.
I found it the same place I find everything. On the internet. I stole it. I did a google image search for traffic.
You’re not alone! My daughter and I sing and dance in the car all the time! Its the only way to drive!
And dance? How big is this car?
OMG Vicki, can you imagine mine and yours all in a bus cruising down the highway with the windows open and the music on full blast? What a riot! We could be like the partridge family with style.
I do so hope it will be style AND good voices; what an abomination that track is!
Ha! Even if we don’t sound good, we will still have fun and style!
It always helps to have a enthusiastic dancer in the car with you.
I look just like that when I’m dancing in my car!
So… you get in the passenger’s seat?
I’ve heard stories about Arizona drivers.
I’m talented like that.
What’s all this ‘passenger seat’ shit?
That’s the driver’s seat over here.
It sure confused the hell out of some drivers when we were on holiday in France many years ago. My mate was driving his UK car through Nice, and I had my leg hanging out of the passenger window.
We got some bloody funny looks.
Were you singing and dancing at the time?
Here’s one of them:
I’m cracking up. Do you have any idea how true that is? When I first moved here, I got rear ended for stopping at a red light. The guy behind me assumed I was going to run it. He got out of the car and asked me not to call the police. Oh and he didn’t speak any English. *sigh*
Also, the 101 is known as the Agua Fria highway which is really stupid since it means cold water and there’s no water and even if there was, it certainly would NOT be cold.
I’ve had the – not so pleasant – pleasure of driving in Phoenix. First time I’d driving on 6 lanes is over five years. My hubby cussed a lot – but I didn’t get in a car wreck and I was singing.
Did you find cold water?
This begs the question of what your perferred genre of music is that you like to sing to?
Mine is country rock.
I really love all kinds of music. My kids get me to listen to emo screamo rock pop hiphop. I listen to almost anything. It just depends on the mood I’m in. I’ve been very mellow lately so I’ve been listening to a lot of calm stuff. When I’m excited I listen to fast stuff.
Same here. When the commercials get to be too much, I listen to college radio.
But for really good head pounding music, I listen to a local college station that has a major chunk of their playlist devoted to all kinds of metal music.
The kids are good for giving me the head banging stuff. On long car rides, I put in old music and make them guess who the artist is and the name of the song.
“We are family!”
So of course, I’m singing with you. I do remember one of your children looking at me weird when I visited…Cause his cool aunt knew the same songs as his mom – ewww.
My son on the other hand tells me to stop singing and turn down the radio. Party Pooper!
Ha! Gotcha there. All of my kids sing right along with me and they ask me what the words to the songs are. No embarrassment there at all! At least not from music.
I can’t believe I forgot to include this:
I sincerely hope you’re “singing” a little gangster rap. That would be too amazing.
I’ve been known to do that on occasion as well.
Surprised? Ok, I haven’t done it lately, but a few years back I certainly did!
She toowk ma stapppller!
Ah. That’s explains your “Thug Life” tattoo.
When you outgrow it, just have them laser off the the “T”.
I had the T lasered off when I started drinking. I had them put a C in its place.
Me too. except I don’t have a car and walk everywhere and get the strangest looks as I sing and walk. But I also get some really nice smiles . . .
Now that takes a lot more guts than singing in my car. They may see me for a stop light or two, but if you’re walking, those people could follow you home.
I crank up the CD player real loud, and sing yell along at the top of my voice.
Going to work this morning I scared some sheep with ‘Astronomy’ by the Blue Oyster Cult.
My excellent rendition of ‘Over the Wall’ by Echo and the Bunnymen on the way home was, however not appreciated by some philistine of a cyclist.
…there really was no need for that gesture that he made. Whatever it meant!
That’s the thing with the concrete jungle. There’s not many sheep to scare!
Nice choice! Don’t let the stress get you down! :)
Take it easy,
Gotta do something to beat the stress!
As Queen of the Highway, I hope you are singing Queen of the Night. I think that would be ever so delightful.
Can you imagine pulling up next to someone at a red light and they’re singing that? If I tried, they’d call the police and accuse me of road rage. Or shoot me. (See Capitalist Lion Tamer’s article about Phoenix Drivers above)
I had the volume a bit high when Lucia went for it in the first 15 seconds; Hazel wants to know WTF…
Did she sing along?
I know I’ve gone down this road before but if more people sang this song the world would be a damned happier place.
Plus, it is catchy as Hell.
It’s a duet, so I’ll come pick you up and we can drive around singing it together.
And what do you sing Claire? That song I sent you once? :P
Ha! I’m not nearly that good at that one. This has been the type of thing I’m listening to lately:
How is this a guilty pleasure?
You obviously haven’t heard me sing.
Has anyone ever sang to you, “Claire your hair is in my mouth, but I’m not mad ’cause it was bound to happen”?
What if my answer to that question is yes?
Then your answer would be “yes” and the world would know the truth!
Somewhere out there, he’s blushing.
Great picture! And why be guilty about singing in your car. Its probably unlikely you’ll see anyone you know and even if you do you can always mumble vaguely about a doppelgänger. :)
I love that picture too, Bill. I don’t know who the fabulous photographer is but it’s beautiful.
Singing makes me feel good. I’d rather do that than talk on my cell phone or look all pissed off when I drive and that’s what everyone around me seems to be doing. Singing is much more fun.
